Interactivos in NY and Mexico

interactivos_bannerWhile taking part at Interactivos workshop in Madrid, i realized that the call for collaborators at eyebeam in NY ends today, but the call for projects for Interactivos in Mexico is still open until 8th of June:

The workshop aims to use open hardware and software tools to create prototypes that explore the relations between machines and humour/laughter

Laughter is a psychological phenomenon that is a human characteristic. Frequently associated with fun, play and pleasure, it serves as a way of communicating moods that are not always positive or pleasurable. Laughter can be intelligent or stupid, liberating, forced, nervous, contagious or sinister. The incongruent and the unexpected provoke laughter; however, depending on the context, they can also cause terror. Laughter is also a social phenomenon. To be shared, a common cultural milieu is required. As a result, it can reinforce belonging to a group and also exclude “others”.

plus, very important:

Lodging will be provided at a hostel for the authors of the selected projects.

Travel expenses will also be covered for one person for each of the selected projects.

Interactivos?’08 at Medialab-Prado, Madrid

I was invited to take part in the workshop, so i booked the flights and here i am! The workshop will start tomorrow in the Medialab-Prado and i will take chance to finally use tagr.tv as a workshop documentation plattform and try to spam the blog with an everyday update of the workshop.

Examples for projects that had been realized during recent Interaktivos? workshops are for example Chris Sugrue’s Delicate Boundaries or Pablo Valbuena’s AugmentedSculpture which i think was one of the most thrilling works exhibited at the Ars Elektronica 2007.

Peter Weibel: Experimentelle Kunst und Experimentelle Politik III

Peter Weibel talking at the University for applied Arts in Vienna on 25th of April 2008.

Unfortunately the last 10 min are missing on the (german) video, but there is an audio file with better audio quality ready for download here.

Eva Jantschitsch a.k.a Gustav live in Concert featuring “Trachtenkapelle Dürrenstein”

The concert was part of the programme of the Donaufestival08 and completely sold out – not even the press pass got me in, i was very lucky to find someone who sold me his ticket in the very last minute in order to sneak in a minute before the concert started.
I realized that “Gustav” was discussed in the media, but i didn’t realize the hype that was going on, nor i understood it… until the concert started.

Then the microphone gave completely up, this youtube video provides better audio quality of this scene.. within a minute i was amazed by Eva Jantschitsch’s performance and voice, and all of a sudden i understood why the Minoritenkirche in Krems – a former chruch & great venue btw. – was completely packed and sold out since weeks.

This video clip starts with the appearece f the Trachtenkapelle (traditional band) of Dürrenstein which was the spezial feature of the night, which i think was great, but see for yourself:

Share Festival: Two Architectures

This was the last talk of this years share festival: Bruce Sterling and Marcos Novak talking about the internet and new forms of visualisation – two really really interesting characters. While Bruce Sterling couldn’t wait to finish the festival and move on to the wine, Marcos Novak couldn’t stop to explain the world – really interesting, very amusing: (english 1:15h , 352.9Mb)

There are various versions of this file ready to download here, all talks of the share festival are available at the Share Festival stream site

AV performances Part I @ Mapping Festival 2008

The first weekend of the Mapping Festival in Geneva past by too fast… and i tried to see and document every event… but to be honest it was not possible! What i saw… or let’s say experianced was great and all the different kinds of performances gave a good overview of how and in which context av technics might be used.
This ranges from the classical VJ set going along with a DJ playing or live audio visual sets in a night club to more experimental audio visual performances and installations shown in a museum of contemporary art.
The Festival still goes on till Sunday! So get your things packed and come!

And have a look at those videos…. even if the quality is not the best! i am gonna work on that… when i am back home, I promise.
